Senior spotlight: Michaela Gross Class of 2024
I’m pretty sure Michaela isn’t aware, but she could totally be a model on the side of her future career in the medical field. Check out her session and you will see what I mean. She is a very impressive girl with a bright future and even though our time together has been brief I get the impression that she is just really cool! Pastime: Running cross country and track
Top three memories of high school: 1. My absolute favorite memory was winning cross-country states with my team and being second overall. My team has won 4 times in my high school career and each one was so memorable. 2. I also loved my sophomore basketball team and all our bus rides. 3. Being the goalkeeper of the year my sophomore year of soccer was also very cool.

About the future…
You’re done with high school, what is your next move? I will continue with HCC’s Registered Nursing program and get my nursing degree by the end of 2025 while also running cross-country and track. I cannot tell you enough how cool I think that is!
What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years and where? I hope to be at a well-known hospital as a nurse practitioner in this area of North Carolina.
What’s the number one world issue you would solve if you could? The expense of health care. That’s a good one!
What is your dream career (even if it’s just a dream) ? A professional/olympic runner.

And on that note, if someone wrote a novel about your life what should it be called? Definitely something along the lines of chaotic and type A personality.
What song will you never forget the lyrics to? Mockingbird by Eminem. I’ve known every word since I was 10 years old.
Since you mentioned that song, is it your favorite? It is not, but I have a lot of memories associated with it.
Pretend money ain’t no thang- where are you gonna go on vacation right now? I would love to explore the Caribbean for a summer!
You can only eat one thing for the rest of your life. What’s it gonna be? Cavaaa!!
If your pet could talk, what do you think they might say about you? My French Bulldog, Blu, only follows and listens to me, so he would have a lot of nice things about me but he would also wish I let him in my room more often.
What is your proudest (maybe not biggest) accomplishment so far: I am very proud that I started college 2 years early and completed my first semester of nursing school without failing.
Any obscure talents? I can do the splits on both legs but have never done gymnastics before. That’s really cool!
What’s a skill you don’t have but want to learn? I’d love to speak Spanish fluently to talk to some of the foreign patients in a hospital setting or just out and about.
